The EU Open Data Directive is supposed to promote the use of open data and to stimulate innovation in products and services. To this end, it establishes a set of minimum rules governing the re-use and the practical arrangements for facilitating the re-use of documents held by public sector bodies of the EU Memeber States and existing documents held by certain public undertakings, as well as of certain research data.
